Modern Tiny House Designs and Interesting Restorations

Hello self sustaining enthusiasts!

Taking a break today, as we like to do in between the drier posts about nuts and bolts. I wanted to mention that I have several different reasons for making this blog. Yes, I want to share my ideas and plans. Yes, I want to raise money for the project (though I have yet to be blessed with contributions--which is OK). Yet, mostly I want a record I can go back to while I'm working on the future land; something that will keep me in line and on track. All these links and designs, diagrams and plans, will be there as my self sustaining notebook.

But - as I said - today is just more architectural eye candy. I have a lot to present. I shall give a little bit at a time. I might need a second post in a few days to show more. This will be not only small house designs (mostly very modern), but also a look at some very interesting architectural renovations and great ideas for mixing the modern with the traditional.

Let's look some very modern tiny and small houses. First up is the "Read Nest"...

Here are various other tiny modern house designs, set in different places worthy of getting away to. Nice private spaces for an artist or maybe a couple who want to escape the rat race for a weekend...

Now some of my favorite house renovations that incorporate three things: (1) interior connections between separate buildings, (2) integrating aspects of the outdoors and (3) the mixture of the modern with the traditional.

File this next one under the category of very creative ideas...

And here is one, way out of my pay grade (and probably most of yours too), but designed to be spacious, letting the outdoors in and making the most of glass. Oh, and yes, I do believe that is a thatched roof...

Finally, here is my favorite. I'm wild about stone houses. I am still contemplating making my first tiny house a slip form stone structure. This is what was done with an old stone cottage...

Well, that's it for today. Hope you enjoyed this latest tour. I might have gone a bit outside the subject of self sustaining property. But even million dollar renovations can give inspiration to the penniless dreamer.
